Intact Insurance Projects

I started my internship at Intact Insurance back in May 2025, and I'm still there today, happily buried in research. Over this time, I've worked on a real mix of projects: some deeply quantitative (sample sizes big enough to make you sit up straight), some deeply qualitative (hours of transcripts, sticky notes, and "wait, say that again?" moments), and a whole lot in between.

These case studies are a bit different from the others, though. The work was done under real confidentiality agreements, so I'm not able to share the underlying data, findings, or client details. What I can share is the methodology I chose, the reasoning behind it, and what these projects helped me achieve, both personally and for the teams I worked with. Enjoy the read!

1. Home insurance feature

Dovetail

Power Point

Zoom

Ran two rounds of moderated attitudinal research (7 participants each) on a new home insurance support feature, from early prototype to high-fidelity design. Round one found zero participants understood the feature. Two more iterations, driven by their feedback, brought comprehension to 100% before launch.

Mixed-method: descriptive statistics and qualitative analysis | Jan – May 2026

2. Call reason analysis

Microsoft Excel

Power Point

Analyzed 3,000+ minutes of customer call recordings to identify why customers were calling instead of self-serving online. Combined descriptive statistics with qualitative coding to surface the real drivers. Findings shaped feature visibility and content decisions across design, marketing, and agent teams, and the method itself was adopted company-wide.

Competitive Benchmarking Study | March 2026

3. Claims benchmarking

Fig Jam

Power Point

UserTesting

Benchmarked the claims experience against 5 competitor insurers, comparing feature sets and visual design across each claims flow. Findings identified where the experience fell behind or ahead of the market, informing design priorities and feature recommendations for the claims team.

Moderated Accessibility Research | May – Aug 2025

4. Cognitive accessibility research

Dovetail

Power Point

Zoom

Conducted moderated research with neurodivergent participants to uncover accessibility barriers in digital insurance journeys. Findings reshaped UX writing tone and design system annotation standards.
